Dropped Head Syndrome is caused by weakness of the neck extensor muscles, this can start as a slight forward tilt of the head and progress to a stage where the person’s chin is in constant contact with their chest. It is commonly associated with Motor Neurone Disease (ALS) and Parkinson’s Disease. Throughout this project I conducted multiple interviews with Phillippa Sharpe who is a Specialist Motor Neurone Disease Occupational Therapist for the NHS Foundation Trust at Oxford. These interviews enabled me to consider multiple problematic factors when designing for people with Motor Neurone Disease.

Inclusive Design Project
This module was about understanding the concerns that an ageing population may have and to create a product to assist them. The Google Home Motion Sensor would utilise AI and pattern recognition to identify when someone’s movement indicates that they are likely to fall or if there are any obstacles in their usual walk paths. Falls are the number one reason why someone from the ageing population has to move from their home into a care home or hospital, so preventing this would extend the user’s period of time in their own home.
Advanced 3D CAD Project
This module involved creating a remote control car controller by using Solidworks surfacing tools, creating internal components that can be injection moulded and assembled and then creating various renders.
