Eco-me is an innovative machine designed to produce single-use, travel-sized toiletries at home. The main goal is to create an eco-friendly and convenient solution for travelers who want to avoid using hotel toiletries, especially in light of hygiene concerns post-pandemic. The product leverages biodegradable PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) materials, similar to those used in laundry pods, for packaging.
PVA is a water-soluble, biodegradable, non-toxic material known for its environmental friendliness, strong film-forming ability. It that can be bonded using both water and heat. It forms strong adhesive bonds when dissolved in water and can also be heat-sealed, making it ideal for environmentally friendly packaging and industrial applications.
The prototype development underwent three distinct stages. First, the cardboard model stage was used to generate initial concepts. This was followed by the foam model stage, which facilitated the development of the basic appearance and structural framework. Finally, the 3D printing stage allowed for the presentation of functional features and the testing of the design.
The development of CAD and Prototype are mutually influential. The initial concept was generated through the prototype, while the appearance was designed using CAD. The foam prototype further validated the dimensional and structural requirements. Finally, the CAD model established the final 3D-printed model, which was then subjected to practical testing.
The entire process consists of six steps, with a total completion time of less than one minute. Participants showed strong interest in the product, providing positive feedback.
The product’s outer casing is primarily made of PLA material. For safety considerations, DC power was used in the design. The picture on the right illustrates the operation mechanism of the blade.
