The key functionality of the product relies on using artificial intelligence to recognise emotions to give them valuable insights into their wellbeing. I went through multiple iterations of datasets to test the feasibility of a wide range of sensors including PPG sensors and IMUs. I conducted my own self study to build the dataset. Building a gold standard dataset for Carelights OEPs sensor produced the most accurate model. No need for the cloud – data stays private.
I used low and medium fidelity prototypes to move through iterations of both form, usability, function, and silhouettes. I explored concepts with both thick and thin bands, big to no LCD screens. 3D printing helped me to rapidly iterate button and internal component layouts and user interaction.
I used hierarchal task analysis to identify the necessary steps of CBT, and worked using card sorting and rapid iteration to develop ideas on both how to communicate the large amounts of data as well as user flows for analysing and processing negative thoughts. I then moved into Figma to iterate on padding, radii, and visual hierarchy of components. I used colour to separate cards from their content, and the background from cards. I worked on finding elements that I could later use as variables, instances, and styles.
I used block diagrams to iterate on necessary components and develop a concept for a custom PCB. After I had all of the final components, I completed a power budget to improve battery life. I used granta CES as well as swift and bookers method to calculate cost of manufacturing processes and materials. I iterated different methods and materials against cost and desired characteristics.
