This project is a ground-based board game designed around Loughborough University, intended to enhance interaction between international and local students, who sometimes experience a language barrier and feel culturally segregated.
A colorful and inviting platform for students to engage with each other is provided by the game, helping international students make new friends. The illustrated landmarks on the board not only familiarize students with their new environment but potentially spark interest in specific local places. This activity encourages students to create real-world interactions beyond the game itself, helping reduce cultural isolation.
Each player chooses a color of friendship points at the start of the game, with a total of 10. The first player to complete 10 friendship point exchanges wins.
Friendship points are represented in the form of pins. This makes exchanges between players more convenient. Additionally, this format for friendship points is more conducive to sustainable development, as the pins are less prone to damage and contribute to an eco-friendly approach.
Sunship contains four types of cards – Chance, This or That, Act Out & Undercover, and Safari & Draw.
Through these cards, players can exchange friendship points in their hands.
The rulebook will explain the game rules. By scanning the QR code on the cover, players can access the rulebook in different language versions, avoiding any confusion due to language barriers.
