Final project

Interrogation and Visualisation of Cyberbullying

By focusing on the victim’s own shortcomings, namely repeated processes of  self-objectification, this project explores cyberbullying through photography and video, suggesting preventative methods of avoidance.

The project uses art and design to raise awareness of the emotional and psychological impact of online-abuse employing monochromatic imagery and strategic color to evoke emotional resonance and encourage positive action on the part of young people & their guardians. A Photobook has been produced alongside an advocacy video designed to educate and mobilise audiences.Through this work, the project will highlight the power of cyberbullying, and raise social awareness to support deterrence.

Interdisciplinary designs and installations

Using nails and wooden letters arranged in combinations on the wall, I created a text that mimicked the dating posts on social media platforms. When some of the letters fall out, the text on the wall becomes hostile and insulting, contextualising the insidious nature of online violence by changing the font and typography.

Combining computer science, maths and graphic design, I incorporated target recognition techniques into the final artwork. Using computer art and graphic design alongside target recognition techniques, this project investigates the proximity of online violence by analysing and reflecting on camera-captured identities.

Digital Media Design

Along with the photobook as the final visual output of the project was a promotional video. The status quo is that people spend too much time on social media, so I was just able to engage my potential audience by posting the video on streaming platforms.
