An industrial designer with a focus on user experience and innovation, she is good at translating requirements into product goals. Her project "Magic Mirror" integrates design research, concept development, CAD rendering and industrial manufacturing selection with commercial value.
The Magic Mirror with a soft mirror is a home product that combines innovative technology with mental health design. The mirror is turned on and off by gesture control and provides two functions: normal mode and fun mode.
In normal mode, the mirror remains unchanged and only controls the brightness of the light. The fun mode is designed to help users look at themselves with a more positive mood, accept and appreciate their bodies, and reduce body shame.
In fun mode, the mirror will form various bends as the body swings, showing interesting and changeable imaging effects like a funhouse mirror, allowing users to see the diversity of body shapes. This interesting mirror method allows users to unconsciously ignore their dissatisfaction with themselves.
After bending, the mirror will return to a flat state, symbolizing the return of positive emotions, allowing users to look at themselves with a more tolerant attitude.
The core of this concept was to help people with body anxiety and self-denial establish a more correct self-cognition, guide them to accept the diversity of body shapes and appreciate themselves. Through the interesting observation process of distorted mirrors, potential paths to self-acceptance are explored. The study aims to analyze whether users can stimulate more positive emotions and self-acceptance when facing the changing self in the mirror. The ultimate goal is to enable users to view themselves with a positive attitude, enhance recognition of diverse body shapes, and reduce the distress of body shame.
