Yuwen is an experienced art director, having created advertising. Through her studies, Yuwen’s desire to raise awareness via immersive, digital environments has enabled further engagement with visually aesthetic solutions. Yuwen’s future ambitions include leading roles within international cinematic production.

Dog Whistle

This project is designed as an interactive movie game to raise public awareness of endemic dog whistle emotional abuse and reduce harm to victims. Here existing abusive language cases are adapted into a profound and moving storyline. By designing key decision points, players can make choices in this pastime and experience the consequences of different options, thereby increasing the audience’s sense of responsibility when blaming others. Using an instant feedback mechanism, players immediately see the consequences of their picks, thereby strengthening understanding of the impact of psychological manipulation and improving their ability to identify and respond to emotional abuse.

Character Design

I chose to use mythological metaphors as the direction of character design. In myths from different cultural backgrounds, the same animals have opposite meanings, which corresponds well to the point of “Role Reversal”. I searched myths from different cultures and chose three typical animals: sheep, wolf, and Rabbit as my characters. And I also applied the story of Little Red Riding Hood in Andersen’s fairy tale and added the image of Little Riding Hood.

Storyboard

This game is adapted from two real stories into two stories.

Story 1: The little girl wanted to buy a mobile phone, but her goat mother refused her. The girl screamed loudly, but her mother was very calm. The public blamed the girl. Their words kept pushing the girl, and then the girl went crazy and turned into a wolf and devoured her mother.
Story 2: The black shadow screamed outside the door and insulted the rabbit, but the rabbit remained calm and taught the shadow that the shadow’s behavior was wrong. However, the shadow’s behavior became more and more serious, and when the rabbit opened the door to talk, the shadow attacked the rabbit.
First, the player is given the identity of a divine envoy, which will guide the player into the story, increase the sense of immersion, and increase the player’s sense of responsibility when making choices.
The game automatically advances through the plot.
Players make choices.

The game will have two different endings depending on the player’s choices.

Happy ending.
Bad ending.
